Harlan A. Fagan

Harlan A. Fagan, 93, of Stratford, died October 21, at St Vincent’s Medical Center Bridgeport. Mr Fagan was born March 18, 1919, in Corey, Ind., to Verna and Olo Fagan.

Three children, Brian A. Fagan, and his wife Pamela, of Sandy Hook, Bruce Fagan of Bridgeport, and Lorna T. Fagan-Serra; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Fagan, survive Mr Fagan. He married Astrid Person in 1947; she predeceased him in January of this year, after 65 wonderful years of marriage.

Mr Fagan served four years in the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Scotland and England, and from there he was sent to Normandy, France, and continued to outskirts of Germany, where he helped set up a airfield. The airfield was attacked and under constant fire. He helped keep planes flying night and day and this was integral in forcing Germany’s surrender. He was awarded the Medal of Honor upon returning to the United States.

 He was a retired tool maker for Model Tool. Among his many interests were traveling, golf, bowling, baseball, and gardening.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of both the Bishop Wickie Health Care and St Vincent’s Medical Center.

A funeral service took place October 24. Burial was in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield, with full military honors.
