To Host Ninth Annual Holiday Wine Tasting
DANBURY â Fine wines, great food and an exciting new venue in Western CT State Universityâs Westside Campus Center will set the table for celebration at WCSUâs Ninth Annual Holiday Wine Tasting benefit. The event this year is planned for Sunday, November 4, from 4 to 7 pm.
Future WestConn students from the greater Danbury area, as well as present and future students in the universityâs Ancell School of Business, will be the beneficiaries of the popular fundraiser to support the Caraluzzi Scholarship Endowment. Proceeds from the annual event and generous donations from the family of Anthony and Julia Caraluzzi have enabled the university to award scholarship grants totaling more than $52,000 to nearly 60 students since 2001.
This year the Holiday Wine Tasting will move to the elegant Grand Ballroom in the universityâs new Westside Campus Center, on Lake Avenue Extension.
A donation of $50 per guest will cover the cost for sampling a diverse selection of domestic and international wines, complemented by an extensive buffet of foods prepared by area restaurants and caterers. Participants will enjoy live musical entertainment by a WCSU jazz quartet and have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction of goods and services.
The scholarship program has provided a model for the expanded collaboration in a broad range of fields between the university and the Greater Danbury community in recent years. The endowment was created by Anthony Caraluzzi, founder of Caraluzziâs Food Markets in Bethel and Georgetown, to finance scholarship awards reflecting his familyâs deep roots in the community and commitment to advancing business education.
Reservations for the event are limited. To reserve tickets or request additional information, call the WCSU Office for Institutional Advancement at 837-8832.
