To The Editor:
Voters have a choice of five candidates for three open positions on the Police Commission.
A candidate not worthy of consideration is Bruce Walczak. He brings no relevant experience for the position and has consistently demonstrated a lack of integrity and honesty, both before and during his campaign for the commission.
Mr Walczak has distorted and altered facts to suit his personal agenda, pitted one neighborhood against another, disparaged the Queen Street Area Traffic Study while never acknowledging that he was a member of the study team, and thwarted the efforts of the Queen Street residents who have worked through the proper channels to create a safe neighborhood, merely dismissing them as âlobbyists.â
Alternatively, three of these candidates bring a combination of relevant experience, character, and integrity to the important work facing this commission: Gerry Finnegan, Duane Giannini, and Brian Budd. Gerry has over 38 years of experience as a treasury agent and liquor control enforcement agent, plus six years on the Police Commission. Duane is a human resource professional, vital for the work of recruiting, training, and retaining law enforcement professionals, plus four years on the commission. Brian is new to the commission, but brings 13 years of experience as a police detective in Stratford.
If you want qualified, nonpartisan individuals to serve you ,vote for Mr Finnegan, Mr Giannini, and Mr Budd on November 6.
Sincerely,
Robert Geckle
