The Music Of Spain
DANBURY â The Danbury Symphony Orchestra will perform âViva Espana, celebrating the music of Spain,â on Saturday, October 27, at 8 pm, at Ives Concert Hall.
The Orchestra will perform under the direction of Ariel Rudiakov, DSO music director and conductor. Mr Rudiakov is also the Artistic Director of the Manchester (VT) Music Festival. He is a violist and on the faculty of Manhattan School Music in the Pre-College Division.
Ives Concert Hall is in the main/midtown campus of Western Connecticut State University, within White Hall. There is ample free parking available in the garage on Fifth Avenue.
Guitar soloist Oren Fader will perform the well-known guitar concerto, Concierto de Aranjuz by Joaquin Rodrigo. Trumpet player Miles Davis made this concerto famous in a jazz trumpet arrangement the 1960s. Mr Fader has performed hundreds of concerts throughout the US, Europe and Asia with myriad classical and new music groups.
The program will include popular Bolero by Ravel and the Rapsodie Espagnole, also by Ravel. Completing the program are âThree Dancesâ from The Three-Cornered Hat by Manuel deFalla.
Peg Heetmann, whose late husband Paul was a member of the violin section of the orchestra, has generously funded this concert.
The performance is free to the public but donations at the door will be accepted.
