Sven C. Svensson, 86, a resident of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Jean Carlsson Svensson, died October 16 at St Vincentâs Medical Center. Mr Svensson was born in Sweden, son of Karl and Ellen Velander Svensson.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Jon Erik Svensson, and is survived by two loving children, a son, Karl R. Svensson and his wife, Gail, of Sandy Hook and a daughter, Ingrid Ellen Crook and her husband, Scott, of Suwanee, Ga.; also four grandchildren, Karl and Kristopher Svensson and Davin and Kiristen Crook.
He received his degree in chemical engineering from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y., and served with the US Army during World War II in the chemical warfare training division.
Mr Svensson was a retired chemical engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft. He was a lifetime member of the Branford Masonic Lodge, an active volunteer at the Botanical Gardens at the Beardsley Zoo, and for many years a member of the Monroe Republican Party.
A longtime member of St Peterâs Episcopal Church, Monroe, a memorial service will be held in the church, at the familyâs convenience. There will be no calling hours and in lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton CT 06897-2523.
The Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Trumbull, is in charge of arrangements.
