Room For More In Free Fitness Challenge
A free holistic health program being offered by a Newtown couple needs a few more bodies that might be a bit out of shape. Cody and Jennifer Foss are teaming with a nutritionist and several sponsors to provide a one-month âFitness Challengeâ that is aimed at increasing participantsâ overall functionality and helping to inspire those who think fitness is out of their grasp.
The program, which is designed to prove anyone can get healthier without a gym or long-term coaching using simple and fun activities, includes a nutritional assessment, nutritional meetings, and walking groups.
Ms Foss, who is a registered nurse, said society today is bombarded with information and warnings about obesity trends and related health issues.
âWe just want to do our part for Newtown,â she said. âThis program will be lead by experts in the field of health and nutrition and will provide all the necessary support, structure, and motivation necessary to begin a fitness program.â
With the holidays approaching, Mr Foss believes it is the best time to prepare for a new outlook on oneâs personal health.
âWeâll help you go into what is the most traditional period of weight gain and inactivity already armed with tools to get you through in a positive and healthy way,â he said. âSo if anyone has a friend or family member who needs a boost to start their fitness program, the Wellness Challenge is a great opportunity for them to get into shape.â
Mr Foss said Newtown Savings Bank is supplying a grant to underwrite the nominal cost of rubber resistance bands, marketing, and other costs. Some program equipment is being provided or discounted by The Gym Source, and T-shirts are being provided by Simm Lane neighboring business Wild River Custom Screen Printing.
The pilot program is open to first 50 people who register online or in-person at the Fossesâ local business, The Fitness Loft on Simm Lane below the Newtown Car Wash. Anyone seeking more information on this no-cost community wellness program can call 304-1400, go online to TheFitnessLoft.org, or email their intent to participate before November 2 to WellnessChallenge@TheFitnessLoft.org.
