Parent Connection Forum On November 1

The Newtown Parent Connection will offering an informative forum, “Kids, Alcohol & the Law,” Thursday, November 1, from 7 to 9 pm, at Newtown Middle School. The panel, facilitated by John Hamilton, the CEO of Behavioral Health, will address the many legal, neurological, and behavioral effects of underage and binge drinking and drug use.

The perspectives are from professionals in the areas of neuropsychology, behavioral health, and law enforcement. Attendees will see and hear firsthand from people who are prominent in the state of Connecticut in their work dealing with underage alcohol and drug use.

Judge William Lavery, attorney Matthew Maddox, State Prosecutor Stephen Sedensky, Chief of Police Michael Kehoe, Dr Jonathan Michaelis, and Mr Hamilton will present invaluable information.

The forum will address popular practices and answer questions about what the risks and liabilities are regarding the drinking habits of youth.

Middle school, high school, and college-aged children are urged to attend with their parents. Young people in attendance will be given a Community Involvement Certificate. Newtown High School seniors will get senior health class credit.
