Moms Invited For A Night Of Socializing And Shopping

SOUTHBURY — Moms with kids of all ages are invited to a fun adult night out of socializing and shopping on Thursday, November 8, from 6 to 9, at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door, which includes wine, cheese, munchies, and dessert. Also included in the price of admission is a chance to win more than 30 door prizes.

There will be more than 30 vendors who will show their merchandise at Mom’s Night Out. It is a unique shopping opportunity, with vendors bringing something different from what is available at department stores. Many vendors will sell hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind items, such as accessories, jewelry, cards and original-design wear. There will also be popular lines of cosmetics and skin care, cookware, gourmet foods, and other merchandise.

Mom’s Night Out is a fundraiser for Alef Bet Preschool in Southbury. Since the refreshments are donated by parents, most of each person’s admission fee goes directly to the fundraiser.

“We really count on the dollars raised through our fundraising efforts,” said Alef Bet Board co-president Lisa Segal. “It’s nice to provide our preschoolers with special additions to the programs, like guest musicians or new playground equipment — things that are not covered by tuition dollars.”

“Mom’s Night Out was so successful last year,” says Alef Bet Preschool Director Elaine Beitman.  “Women get a great opportunity to leave the children at home for a few hours and go out and socialize and have fun. The bonus is that they get to browse and shop for some great gifts!”

Alef Bet Preschool is an early childhood education program of The Federation-Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut. It serves children from across the region, including Southbury, Middlebury, Woodbury, Newtown, Oxford, Waterbury, Naugatuck, and Brookfield, with year-round programs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Mom’s Night Out is open to the public and welcomes women of all ages.
