Harry W. Johnson, 93, of Newtown, died October 19 at Danbury Hospital. He was born June 7, 1914, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was the husband of Ruth âLillâ Johnson.
In addition to his devoted wife of 56 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Claire Johnson and Laura (Johnson) Memoli. Mr Johnson is also survived by his four grandchildren, John W. Memoli and his wife, Sarah, of Johnston, R.I., Jennifer (Memoli) Young and her husband, Bruce, of Wendell, N.C., Melissa Memoli of Brookfield, and Christopher D. Memoli and his wife, Jennifer, of Boston; and his great-grandson Aden William Memoli of Johnston, R.I. In addition, he will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kitty and Johnny Delin; niece Gertrude Delin; nephew Spencer Delin; sister-in-law Magda Kvam; niece Karen Kvam; and family friends.
Mr Johnson served in the US Navy and was a veteran of World War II, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He worked for Gibbs & Cox Naval Architects of New York and also Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group of Greenwich.
Mr Johnson was longtime member of the Sons of Norway.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
