BILL LOGAN ART RETROSPECTIVE SALE AND AUCTION AT WILTON LIBRARY NOV. 16

ak/lsb set 10/26 #717553

WILTON, CONN. — Bill Logan, a versatile and prolific artist, will be remembered on Friday, November 6, when the Wilton Kiwanis Club and the Wilton Library honor his memory at an art sale and auction at the library starting at 6:30 pm. The works of this multitalented artist, who was a Wilton resident of 50 years before his death in May 2007, will be offered at a sale of his paintings, a silent auction and a live auction.

The reception begins the evening, with the live auction commencing at 7:30 pm in the Brubeck Room; Brian Angerame will handle the duties of auctioneer. The exhibit of Logan’s works to be sold will be on view at the library November 5–16.

Logan has a “Group Show of One” at Wilton Library, demonstrating his original, yet widely varied works. Speaking in 2004, he noted, “This eclectic collection of watercolors, acrylics, gouache, ink drawings and mixed media feeds me more material for new concepts. I paint according to moods and inspiration, sometimes stark realism dominates my paintings and other times fantasy plays a part in my creative style. I can honestly say I’ve never been bored.”

In the later years of his life, Logan suffered from Parkinson’s disease, but when he was painting, he showed no evidence of the affliction.

According to Ed MacEwen, art chairman who is helping Kiwanis and his widow, Mary Lou Logan, mount the show, “Bill’s works ran from figurative to abstract paintings and drawings. He was well known for his whimsical approach. From animals to landscapes, Bill’s work encompassed the gamut of human experience.”

The exhibition and sale are open to the public. A portion of the proceeds will benefit both Wilton Library and the Kiwanis Club.

Wilton Library is at 137 Old Ridgefield Road. For information, www.wiltonlibrary.org or 203-762-3950.
