Reds 17, Aspetuck 2 â The Reds smacked nine hits and registered 10 runs in the first two innings to bury the combined Redding-Easton team in a mercy-rule shortened game at Walnut Tree Field Sunday. Nicky Sajovic singled twice to drive in two runs in the first two innings while Ryan Daignault (double), Ben Stoller (single), John Lebinski (walk), Kevin Shpunt (single) had big RBI to fuel to offensive explosion. Behind the dish, Jon Hull ended the game with a spectacular diving grab of a foul bunt on the first-base side. Mike Scharfenberg and Sajovic finished the game with three hits each as Hull, Sandler and Shpunt each had two hits.
Reds 4, New Fairfield 3 â Playing their toughest out-of-town opponent of the season, Reds pitchers Richie Sandler and Ryan Daignault shut out New Fairfield over the final four innings to secure the win Saturday at Walnut Tree Field. The duo combined with starting pitcher John Lebinski, who pitched the first three innings, to scatter seven singles. New Fairfield had
the potential winning runs on second and third bases with one out in the seventh inning, but Daignault made a diving catch of a foul pop and Sandler tagged out a potential base stealer to end the threat. Daignault also singled twice and drove in a run in the game.

Lightning 5, Gators 3 â Patrick Berger doubled and singled to lift the Lightning past the Gators in first round playoff action. Matt St. Jean, Zach Aumueller and Michael Parker each had singles and scored runs. Michael Ziluck made a great defensive
play at third base with the bases loaded to end a Gator rally. Jamie Cochrane pitched two strong innings to help seal the victory. For the Gators, Matt Gerics tripled, Kyle McGrath doubled, Mason Melillo, Holden Turk and Sam Czel singled. Connor Ryan and Sam Czel pitched three strong innings.
Bombers 4, Newtown (#2) 2 â The Bombers won their first round playoff game with some timely hits, dominant pitching and solid defense. Dave Matthews threw two scoreless innings and recorded six strikeouts. Matthews also laced a double to knock in the first Bomber run. Jack Procaccini also pitched two scoreless innings while facing the minimum six batters. Matthews, Procaccini, Joe Duero and Nick Randle combined for 13 strikeouts while allowing only two hits. Patrick Conte crushed a long home run in the fifth inning to give the Bombers a two run cushion. Joey Carrino recorded three unassisted outs in one inning from his first base position.
Gladiators 10, Bombers 9 â Matt Hessâ two-run single in the bottom of the sixth lifted the Gladiators to a 10-9 win over the Bombers in fall baseball league semifinals. Alex Daignault had two hits and Glen Damota a single to round out the hitting. Trevor Lopez, Austin Huffman, and Daniel Pearson demonstrated patience at the plate drawing two walks apiece and each scored at least one time. Defensively, Luke Rustici struck out five batters and made a put out over two innings of work. For the Bombers, David Matthews led the way with two hits, including an opposite field fence-clearing home run in the top of the sixth inning that broke up a tie game. Nick Randle chipped in with two hits and two RBI. David Berquist added a clutch two RBI single.
Gladiators 9, Lightning 7 â Alex Klang, Luke Rustici and Matt Hess powered the Gladiators to a 9-7 win over the Lightning in fall baseball championship action. Glen Damota, Alex Daignault, Dylan Tyrrell and Paul Whitaker also chipped in with hits. Defensively, Tyrrell made a game saving catch in centerfield in the top of the sixth inning for the second out and nearly threw out the first base runner to put a damper on a last inning rally by the Lightning. Shawn McCarthy also played well in the field making key plays at second base.
