J. Frank Miles

J. Frank Miles, 74, husband of Barbara (Nichols) Miles of 16 Elm Drive, Newtown, died October 25 in Danbury Hospital.

Mr Miles was born in Stamford January 28, 1925, a son of the late John and Anna (Slater) Miles. He was a resident of Newtown since 1942 and was a graduate of Newtown High School. He served in the US Army during World War II. Following the war, he attended Bridgeport University and earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. Mr Miles was a mechanical engineer for what is now the Eaton Corporation in Bethel from 1951 to 1989.

Mr Miles was a member and former secretary of the Newtown Rotary Club and was a charter member of the Newtown Tennis Association. He was a longtime member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Mr Miles served many years on the Newtown Board of Tax Review.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Robert of Simsbury, and Paul and John, both of Sandy Hook; three daughters, Jerilyn Miles of Seattle, Wash., Nancy Mesinger of Newtown and JoAnn Colucci of Southbury; and 14 grandchildren.

Private Funeral Services were held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
