Finding Your Voice Program
Finding Your Voice Program
WESTPORT â âFinding Your Voice,â a five session course to help women overcome a fear of public speaking, will begin on Saturday, November 6 from 10 am to Noon at Especially for Women, 728 Post Road East, Westport. Especially for Women is a health and wellness center sponsored by St Vincentâs Health Services.
âThis is a great program to help women enhance their career opportunities as well as improve their overall self-esteem,â says Especially For Women Manager Susan Ahlquist. âWe are happy to bring it to area women in the relaxed setting of Especially for Women.â
Public speaking coach Janet Terban Morris will help participants discover ways to cope and relieve anxiety associated with public speaking through a series of exercises. Using behavioral, cognitive and exposure techniques, she will teach participants how to cope with feelings of panic and learn public speaking pointers.
Ms Morris, who incorporates her own experiences dealing with fear of public speaking, has helped many people find their voices through the intensive training courses as well as through personal and television appearances. She also heads a mentor program at the Norwalk Branch of Toastmasters International.
