Hawk Gridders Post Shutout Over Red Devils
Newtown High School's football team continued its winning ways in convincing fashion, defeating visiting Stratford 42-0 at Blue & Gold Stadium on October 25. The Nighthawks improved to 7-0 heading into the bye week.
The scoring started less than three minutes into the game as quarterback Ryan Schoffstall carried the ball in for a five-yard touchdown.
Newtown added to the lead on the first play of the second quarter when Schoffstall connected with Will McManus for a 31-yard passing touchdown. Schoffstall threw a 25-yard TD pass to Jayden Taylor in the back corner of the end zone for a 21-0 lead midway through the second quarter. The Nighthawks added another score before the half as McManus caught an 11-yard TD pass. It was 28-0 heading into the third quarter.
Cole Stockwell scored on a ten-yard run and Ayden Paulos added an eight-yard score in the second half.
Newtown will host Bunnell of Stratford Friday, November 8 at 7 pm.
