To the Editor:

I am writing in support of Jahana Hayes for the House of Representatives in the 5th Congressional District. In watching her debate her opponent, Manny Santos, there is no question that she is the candidate of choice to represent our district in the US Congress. She is knowledgeable, dynamic, and well-informed.

I believe that Ms Hayes, former Teacher of the Year, will work to promote the issues that matter to me as mother, grandmother, Newtown resident of 40 years, and mental health professional. Health care for all, human services and education, sensible gun reform, and protection of the environment are crucial issues facing Connecticut and our nation. Sadly, I have watched for the past two plus years as the current administration and ruling party in Congress have failed to prioritize these. It is time for checks and balances, time to return to an electorate who will uphold our values and restore decency and dignity to our political system.

I urge you to vote for Jahana Hayes and the entire slate of Democrats on November 6.
