Occupation: I’m a doctor of emergency medicine with Western Connecticut Health Network, at Danbury Hospital. I’m a doctor of osteopathy.

Family: I’m married to a lifelong Newtowner, Kirsten. We have three children. Andrew is 10, Jocelyn is 8, and Gavin is 5 years old.

Pets: We have two dogs. Sneakers is a beagle mix, and Jessie is a mixed breed. Our two cats are Randy and Misty, and we have a guinea pig named Scampers. It’s a zoo.

How long have you lived here? We’ve been in Sandy Hook since 2004, moving here from Pennsylvania.

What do you like to do in your free time? It’s usually stuff with the children. I’m the assistant Cub Master for Pack 170 in Sandy Hook, and a soccer coach for two of my children’s teams. I love to play with my kids; I’m the biggest 5-year-old you’ve ever met. I enjoy running, and building things, hiking, and traveling. I’m a founding member of United Physicians of Newtown, I’m on the Connecticut College of Emergency Physicians, and with the Newtown Prevention Council.

Do you have a favorite movie? My favorite movie is Star Wars. For TV series, I like West Wing and Game of Thrones.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? We have been to Disney five times with the kids, so I guess that’s up there. I think our trip to Acadia National Park this summer was one of my favorites, just spending quality time with the family.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The people. Even after everything the past few years, I’m impressed with the way people have come together. I’ve made incredible friends and acquaintances.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? Three people come to mind. My wife, first. She’s been my rock and my motivator. My parents, too. I’m dyslexic and it took me nine years to learn to read. My parents always pushed me to do more. My going to medical school was huge for my family. The third person is my younger brother, Brian, who died last year. He showed me how to live my life and was a big role model.

Do you have a personal philosophy? When you fall down, pick yourself up; and always do your best.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I like to go out with my friends, when I have the time.
