Poetry Reading At Gunn Library
WASHINGTON â The Gunn Writersâ Series will continue on Thursday, November 9, at 6:30 pm, with Karen Silk and Kevin Pilkington, who will give a poetry reading. The Gunn Writersâ Series features local writers who discuss their books, their careers, and the craft of writing.
Karen Silk is a partner in the real estate firm of Auchincloss and Silk and has lived in Washington since 1984. She has been a teacher and psychotherapist. She is currently working on a collection of poetry, most of it written in Washington, inspired by its landscape and atmosphere. She has studied with poets Marie Howe, Agha Shahid Ali, Rafael Campo, John Ashbery and Kevin Pilkington.
Kevin Pilkington is a member of the writing faculty at Sarah Lawrence College. He also teaches at New School for Social Research. He is the author of four collections. His last chapbook won the 1996 Ledge Prize and his collection Spare Change was the 1997 La Jolla Poets Press National Award winner. His poems have appeared in many magazines including Iowa Review, Yankee, The Red Rock Review, Columbia and the textbook Western Wind.
The poetry reading will be in the Wykeham Room of Gunn Memorial Library, located on Washington Green at Route 47 and Wykeham Road. The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For information call the library at 860/868-7586.
