*For those of you who want to put on a costume more than once this year — hey, it’s no fun just to get dressed up for the co-workers, right? Don’t you want to show off that costume you’ve worked so hard on? — it’s Halloween Costume Party time at Classic Rock Brew Pub in Danbury. The boys of SOL DOG are returning to the Wibling Road hangout Saturday night and if they can do it — costumes, that is — so can you! Showtime is 10 or so, there will be special Halloween contests, drink specials, and all the fun you can have in a room full of people in weird outfits.

After the Danbury show, Sol Dog’s next gig will be a return to Café 127 in Shelton on November 17.

Tuxedo Junction will also be having a Halloween party Saturday night, as will most other area clubs, no doubt. The Tuxedo Junction party will feature music from Invaderz From Marz. Up in Hartford, KISS 95.7 FM will bed presenting its Boo Bash at the CT Expo Center with Baha Men, No Authority, Pink and The Cover Girls all performing.

If you read this early enough and don’t have plans for Friday night, head to the Expo Center for a Halloween party with a music in a different vein, hosted by another Connecticut radio station. October 27 will be the big radio 104 StrangeJam the station has been talking about for weeks. This show will have MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES headlining, with sets from 2 SKINNEE J’S, SUM 41, FLOGGING MOLLY and THE LITTLE KINGZ.

The one exception to all of these pre-Halloween parties seems to be at Toad’s Place in New Haven, where the annual Kooks & Spooks Convention sponsored by WPLR will be held on Halloween night. Doors open at 8 for this, music (with the bands still not listed on the club’s calendar) kicks in around 10, admission is $5, and there will be plenty of contests and prizes.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you... on the road in the vicinity of Newtown Middle School, where I’ll be picking out my favorite sculpture for the annual Sculpted Scarecrow Contest. Hope to see you there — those kids put in a lot of work on these projects!
