Albert Q. Vogel

Albert Q. Vogel, 76, husband of Leona (Ouellette) Vogel, of Meadowbrook Road, Danbury, died at his residence on October 23.

He was the father of Susan Fairchild of Newtown.

He was born in Waterbury, May 2, 1924, son of the late Q. Albert and Sarah (Osborne) Vogel. Mr Vogel moved to Danbury as a boy and had been a resident there for 65 years. He was a graduate of Danbury High School, class of 1941, and served as an MP with the Third Army in the European Theater during World War II.

Mr Vogel had worked as a toolmaker with the Risdon Manufacturing Company of Danbury for many years, prior to his retirement. He was also an accomplished guitarist and had played with several local bands.

He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, local #87, and a former member of the Danbury Fish and Game Club.

In addition to his wife, Mr Vogel is survived by a son, Albert B. Vogel of Danbury; two other daughters, Alison Pane of Danbury and Laura Clarke of Sherman; a sister, Barbara Zinser of Danbury; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude Lassen and Nel Luf.

Funeral services were held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on October 26, with the Rev Laura Ahrens of St James Episcopal Church officiating. Burial took place in St Peter Cemetery.
