To The Editor:

This is in response to Senator Tony Hwang’s recent letter to the editor “Hwang Responds to Attack Ads”, Let’s be honest, Tony’s voting record speaks for itself. Tony is feeling the pressure of too many bad votes, too many bad actions and overall, too many times disappointing his constituents.

Let’s be clear, Rob Blanchard’s mailer isn’t an attack ad. It’s an informational piece shining light on a host of votes pushed through under the cover of darkness where Tony was hoping no one was paying attention. The mailer gives citations to the specific bills, where you can see his votes.

The votes don’t lie — but Tony does. Omitting the truth is lying.

Tony has mastered omitting the truth by using word salads, remembering your name and special occasions like you’re family. Speaking softly, then building to a crescendo during speeches like he’s saying something important, but he isn’t. Tony bloviates. Tony boasts, but never admits to the truth of his votes, then cowers when bold action is needed.

Now let’s be fair, Tony does find his voice, when he gets uncomfortable around young female constituents who dare to challenge his votes. He seems to find his voice then, though, raising it in a menacing way to dominate the conversation, intimidating young women into submission then quickly walking away. One infamous incident was mentioned in a local online publication where Hwang argued with a high school volunteer at the polls in Fairfield.

Tony’s bad votes and behaviors are catching up with him.

Voters in the 28th District, you don’t have to settle for Tony’s bad votes and behaviors. You have a better choice.

Vote for Rob Blanchard who has been in Hartford and understands how laws are passed, including safe gun ownership laws to protect all who live in Connecticut.
