Jennifer Jo Godbout, 57, of Newtown, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jennifer was born on February 20, 1967, in Virginia, Minn., to her devoted parents, Marcia and Gerald Baland, who still reside in Minnesota. She was the beloved wife of Steven Godbout, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and adventure since their marriage on New Year’s Eve in 1993. Together, they raised two wonderful children: her daughter, Hannah Godbout, and her son, Martin Godbout.

She is also survived by her sister, Rochelle Anderson; her brother, Michael Baland; and her sister-in-law, Connie Baland, all of whom will deeply miss her presence in their lives.

Jennifer was a woman of great faith and spirituality, known for her love of God and Jesus. She was an avid reader of the Bible and participated in a cherished Bible study group. Her deep connection to nature and her adventurous spirit were evident in her passion for walking with purpose and collecting and painting rocks from Minnesota’s North Shore.

Fearless and kind-hearted, Jennifer will be remembered for her profound empathy, her respect for others, and the way she made everyone feel loved and important. Her family and friends will forever cherish her memory as a source of light and love in their lives.

As a testament to her faith, we take comfort in the words of John 3:16:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, from 4 to 7 pm at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road in Newtown, on Saturday, October 26, at 11 am.
