Endorses Embree Ku
To The Editor:
As we get closer to election day, I would like to remind everyone that voting for your local state representative is incredibly important…and one that shouldn’t just follow the “well they are a nice person”. With that said, I will state that I really like Mitch and want to thank him for his years of service, but there are some real differences between Mitch and Michelle that everyone should note.
If we take a look at some of his “No” votes, consider the following:
No to 14-day early voting period for general elections
No to 7-day period for most primaries
No to 4-day early voting period for special elections and presidential preference primaries
No to accelerating the phase-in for the pension and annuity exemption from taxation
No to increasing the Property Tax credit for homes and motor vehicles
No to establishing a one-time child tax rebate for up to three children
Michelle has come forward and said she would have voted yes to these.
Now while these bills are more Connecticut focused, not all that comes forward in the State related, or are not influenced by Federal Laws. Mitch voted “No” to the bill that would:
Limit the extradition of reproductive healthcare providers to other states
Prevent patient disclosure to other states for legal action
Prevent compelled witness participation
I really like Mitch. He is a very good person and has been active in many local events. But having complete focus towards ALL of Newtown’s constituents is needed. I know Michelle will work more than anyone to stay on top of all CT business, while also keeping her eye on controlling costs, controlling taxes, while representing all Newtown.
