Colleen Plimpton will present her program, “All Season Color in the Garden,” for The Garden Club of Newtown on Tuesday, October 28, at 1 pm, in the lower meeting room of Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

The public is invited to join garden club members for the program.

Perennials will be the main focus of her presentation, but it will also include some discussion of flowering shrubs as well.  Ms Plimpton is particularly enthusiastic about color in the garden, especially from March to November, and will emphasize deer-resistant, easy to care for and attractive plant material.

A resident of Bethel for many years, Ms Plimpton’s own award-winning one-acre garden has been on many tours and served as a living classroom laboratory where she taught classes on many aspects of gardening.  She is now in the process of moving to Skaneateles, New York, where she will no doubt create another terrific garden and share her knowledge with a whole new group of garden lovers.

Ms Plimpton wrote a garden columns for a local newspaper for many years. She is also the author of  Mentors in the Garden of Life, which was a Best Books award finalist.

There is a $5 requested guest fee for “All Season Color in the Garden.”

Registration is not necessary, but additional information is available by calling 203-512-7320.

Gardener, author and former columnist Colleen Plimpton will be the guest speaker for a program hosted by The Garden Club of Newtown on October 28.
