When Help Can't Wait
When Help Canât Wait
To the Editor:
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps is proud to announce that 40 members of our community completed life saving training in CPR, Rescue Breathing, and Choking management this past weekend. The second annual training event âCPR Saturdayâ was held at two locations: Sandy Hook Fire Department and Edmond Town Hall. I wish to thank Chief Bill Halstead of the Sandy Hook Fire Department and Marcy Becker with the Board of Town Hall Managers for the use of their facilities.
The training provided was sponsored by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corp as part of a regional Emergency Medical Services training event to teach people how to handle life threatening emergencies. Locally, the instruction was provided by Newtown Ambulance Corps members/American Red Cross certified instructors: Harold Evans, Mary Hugo, Gregg Reinhart, Tom Hanlon, Joe Farrell, and Kris Peterson. Assisting in the days event were Ambulance Corps Members: Karin Halstead, Ann Pasko, Mike Agius, Ken Appley, Jeff Marquis, and Lori Beth Pavone. Thank you Mark DeWolfe and Stuart Rieve for setting up the Audiovisual equipment. Also, Ashleigh, Brittany, Jocelyn, and Ryan Pasko for helping with setup and check in for registration.
Food donations were given by Andreaâs Bake Shop, Bagelman, Big Y, Doughnut Hut, and Stop & Shop. We hope those who participated were enlightened on the importance of the citizen responder⦠because âHelp Canât Waitâ.
I hope everyone had a rewarding experience and look forward to seeing you at next yearâs event!
Sincerely,
Kristin Peterson, Chief
