To Get Into The Spirit Of Halloween
Witches, warlocks, ghosts and goblins, and even mere mortals, will be laughing in the rafters and shaking in their boots on Halloween when Connecticut Public Radio airs two Halloween specials, Capitol Steps Halloween Special and Tunes From the Crypt. The programs will air on Tuesday, October 31, from 7 to 11 pm.
Capitol Steps Halloween Special, beginning at 7, spoofs todayâs politicians and their political agendas. It will make listeners laugh in horror and scream out loud âDid they really sing that?â
Wonder if Senator Joe Lieberman can really help Vice President Gore in November? Listeners will have a completely new perspective after hearing âThe Lieberman Can,â a parody of Sammy Davis, Jrâs signature song, âThe Candy Man.â And that doesnât even touch whatâs in store for the Republicans.
At 8 pm, Tunes From the Crypt will delight classical music lovers and candy beggars everywhere with its array of some of the most spine-tingling music ever written. Among the selections will be Saint-Saensâ Dance Macabre, Bachâs Toccata and Fugue in D, Modest Mussorgskyâs Night on Bald Mountain, and great ghoulish movie music like the themes from Hitchcockâs Psycho and Vertigo.
The three-hour special will be complete with hair-raising sound effects, along with spellbinding tales of Halloweenâs haunted past.
Connecticut Public Radio can be heard on WPKT 90.5 FM (Hartford/New Haven), WNPR 89.1 FM (Norwich/New London), WEDW 88.5 FM (Stamford/Greenwich), and W258AC 99.5 FM (Storrs/Mansfield).
