Big Apple Comedy Is Coming To Connecticut
WATERBURYâ Over the River and Through the Woods, the Off-Broadway hit written by Joe DiPietro, will be on the Seven Angels Theatre stage November 9 through December 3. Seven Angels Theatre is the first Connecticut theatre to be granted licensing to the show that has been New York Cityâs longest running comedy.
Described as âdeliriously funnyâ by Daily News, the play takes on the sometimes tricky but always lovingly tender relationships that bind a family together. In his hilarious family comedy, Mr DiPietro brings love, guilt, matchmaking, unsolicited advice and endless offers of food to new comedic highs as Nick Cristano, a single Italian-American guy, accepts the dream job he has been offered â a job that will take him from away from home. Nick, however, has one seemingly insurmountable obstacle â his family, and so the schemes devised by his grandparents to keep Nick in town develop.
Alvin Klein, a theatre critic for The New York Times, has described Over the River and Through the Woods as having âan Italianate air ⦠for the three Fs â family, faith and food.â The Connecticut production is bringing a cast of professional actors from New York City and Connecticut.
Tickets are $23 to $35. Showtimes are 2 pm Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons, and 8 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. For more information call the box office at 203/757-4676. The theatre is in Hamilton Park, on Plank Road.
