Taunton Hill DUI

Motorist Connor Pineau, 21, of 47 Waterview Drive was driving a 2007 Jeep Wrangler SUV near 133 Taunton Hill Road about 10:15 pm on October 19, when the Jeep went off the road and struck a utility pole, resulting in utility lines dropping, police report.

Pineau was not injured. Police said they charged Pineau with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn. Pineau was released on $200 bail for a November 4 court appearance, police said.

Moving Violations

Police report that they stopped a driver who is under age 18 near 33 Berkshire Road at about 5:37 pm on October 13 for a driving violation.

Police said that the driver, whom they did not identify due to age, had not stopped for a red traffic control signal while making a right turn from Wasserman Way onto Berkshire Road.

Police said they issued the driver an infraction on charges of failure to obey a traffic control signal and violating passenger restrictions pertaining to 16- and 17-year old drivers.

Also, police said they issued an infraction to Anthony Ledley, 19, of 77 Bennetts Bridge Road, who was a passenger in the vehicle, on charges of possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Traveling Too Fast

At about 5:30 pm on October 18, motorist Malcolm Dance, 17, of 188 Brushy Hill Road was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck westward near 6 Castle Meadow Road, when he lost control of the truck and went off the right road shoulder, resulting in the vehicle rolling over onto its roof, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Dance an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

Restricted Turn

Police report that at about 5:26 pm on October 16, motorist James Maguire III, 67, of 8 Watkins Drive, who was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette sports car, turned right from northbound Oakview Road onto eastbound Berkshire Road, after which the vehicle went out of control and traveled off the right road shoulder, striking a utility pole.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Maguire written warning for making a restricted turn.

Alberts Hill Crash

Police report that motorist Bailey Solomons, 17, of 119 Alberts Hill Road, who was driving a 2012 Ford Escape SUV eastward on Alberts Hill Road, west of its intersection with Walnut Tree Hill Road, at about 2:33 pm on October 15, lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole, resulting in the vehicle rolling over and landing upside down.

Solomons was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Solomons received an infraction for making a restricted turn, police said.

Main Street

Motorist Mitchell Lobuglio, 21, of 62 Taunton Lake Road was driving a 1998 Honda Accord sedan northward near 62 Main Street about 11:38 pm on October 10, when the auto drove off the right road shoulder, police said.

Lobuglio was transported to Danbury Hospital on a report of pain, police said. The accident is under investigation, according to police.

Walnut Tree Hill Road

On Walnut Tree Hill Road at about 4 pm on October 12, westbound motorist Todd Young, 30, of Shelton, who was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV, crossed the road’s center line and struck eastbound motorist Ronnie Shaboo, 48, of 5 Pomperaug Road, who was driving a 1995 Chevrolet van, according to police.

There were no injuries. Young received an infraction for failure to drive to the right on a curve, police said.

Hawleyville Incident

Police said that while on patrol at about 11:50 am on October 16, they stopped motorist John Denninger, 52, of Brookfield near 42 Hawleyville Road for a stop sign violation.

Police said they charged Denninger with failure to obey a stop sign, driving with a suspended license, and driving an unregistered vehicle. Denninger was released on a written promise to appear in court on November 5, police said.

Rear-Ender

At about 10:12 am on October 16, motorist Aurora Pereira, 56, of Danbury, who was driving a 2011 Hyundai Elantra sedan eastward near 53 Church Hill Road, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by eastbound motorist Kelsey Rahmlow, 20, of 27 Bridge End Farm Lane, who was driving a 2005 Honda Civic sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Rahmlow received a verbal warning for a traffic violation, according to police.

South Main Accident

Motorist Carlos Moreno, 41, of Monroe, who was driving a 2014 Nissan Altima sedan northward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Mile Hill Road, at about 7:52 am on October 14 came to a stop, after which the Nissan was struck from behind by northbound motorist Christopher Diaz, 32, of Danbury, who was driving a 2007 Ford Focus sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Diaz received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

I-84 Collision

State police report a two-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 84, near the Exit 11 interchange at about 10:30 pm on October 17.

State police said that motorist Colleen Caruso, 47, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Deborah Wegrzyn, 36, of Oxford, who was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Passat.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

Interstate Crash

A two-vehicle accident happened on westbound Interstate 84 about 2,500 feet east of the Exit 11 interchange about 9:20 am on October 16.

State police said that motorist Jose Contri, 63, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2011 Lincoln Town Car limousine, slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Rayssa Pereira, 22, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Sentra.

There were no injuries. Pereira received a written warning for following too closely, state police said.

Ramp Accident

State police report an accident on an Exit 11 ramp for Interstate 84 at about 5:35 pm on October 15.

In that mishap, motorist Allen-Geovanny Argueta-Carcamo, 29, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2003 Lincoln Navigator SUV, struck the rear end of a 2012 Honda Civic driven by Caitlin Meany, 28, of Milford, state police said.

There were no injuries. Argueta-Carcamo received an infraction for following too closely and for failure to have a driver’s license, state police report.

Highway Collision

At about 8:20 am on October 20, motorist Theodore Guerrera, 53, of Torrington, who was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer westward on Interstate 84 about 500 feet east of the Exit 11 interchange, slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Carol Damato, 68, of Southbury, who was driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said Damato was following too closely.

Stop Sign

Police report that at about 7 am on October 16, motorist Kenneth Onofrey, 61, of 33 Riverside Road, was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck westward on Mile Hill Road, as motorist Jason Martinez, 44, of New Gardens, N.Y., was driving a 2010 Honda Accord sedan southward on Queen Street.

The Honda did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection of the two streets, resulting in the two vehicles colliding, police said. There were no injuries.

Martinez received a written warning for failure to obey a stop sign, police said.

Traffic Violations

Police report that on the morning of October 22, they were using radar speed-detection equipment in a posted 25-mph zone on Poverty Hollow Road, when they spotted motorist Marta Silva, 40, of Danbury traveling 48 miles per hour.

Police stopped Silva to investigate and charged her with traveling unreasonably fast and with driving under suspension. Silva was released on a written promise to appear in court on October 30, according to police.

Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company firefighters responded at about 1:50 pm on Saturday, October 25, to a car fire on the right road shoulder of eastbound Interstate 84, east of the Exit 9 interchange. The firefighters used foam to extinguish the blaze, which caused smoke and steam to rise from the Chrysler sedan’s engine compartment. State police said there were no injuries. The heavily-damaged vehicle was towed from the scene. The fire caused travel delays in the area. 
Police report a four-vehicle accident near 3 Main Street about 4:12 pm on October 16, which resulted in one driver being transported to the hospital. Motorist Kimberlee Ruppar, 25, of Wethersfield, who was driving a US Army National Guard SUV carrying a military dog, was waiting on southbound South Main Street for a traffic signal. Southbound motorist Van Huan, 50, of Southbury, who was driving a 2005 Honda Pilot SUV, was waiting behind the military SUV. Southbound motorist Nancy Hayes, 63, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2012 Cadillac SRX SUV, was waiting behind the Honda. At that time, northbound motorist Clayton Makuch, 20, of 222 Brushy Hill Road was driving a 2002 Volvo S-80 sedan northward on Main Street, which then crossed over the road’s center line, police said. The Volvo struck both the military SUV and the Honda, causing the Honda to move backward and strike the Cadillac. Huan was transported to Danbury Hospital, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the accident. Police said they issued Makuch an infraction for failure to drive to the right.                                                                                                                                     
Police report that motorist Sydney Ellen Hansen, 19, of 118 Toddy Hill Road was driving a 2007 Toyota RAV-4 SUV westward near 35 Buttonshop Road about 11:13 am on October 21, when the vehicle went off the right road shoulder and struck a utility pole. Hansen was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Botsford firefighters responded to the incident. Police said they issued Hansen an infraction for making a restricted turn. Replacing the damaged pole required that the eastern section of Buttonshop Road be closed to through-traffic until repairs could be made.
