Elaine Skalandunas, 79, a 49-year resident of Newtown, died October 21, after a short battle with lung cancer. She was the wife of Donald H. Skalandunas. Raised in Topeka, Kan., she was the daughter of the late Pauline (Wichmer) and George Schultz.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, her daughter Dana, and her husband Michael, of Bethlehem; son Gary, and his wife Alexa, of Newtown; three brothers and their wives, Bob and Diana, Larry and Barbara, and John and Judy; two sisters, Carol and Ginny; grandchildren, Kyra, Zachary, Aliya, and Ryan; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews survive Mrs Skalandunas. A son, Philip, predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, Tuesday, October 28, at 11 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. There are no calling hours.
