Warrant
Police report they stopped motorist Nicole Tardiff, 25, of 17 Borough Lane near 22 Main Street about 10:19 am October 14, for making a motor vehicle violation.
For that incident, police said they gave Tardiff a written warning for following too closely.
A police records check then indicated that Fairfield police held a pending arrest warrant against Tardiff on a charge of issuing a bad check in connection with a past Fairfield incident, Newtown police said. Newtown police then turned over Tardiff to Fairfield police.
Suzuki Vs Toyota
Motorist Douglas Russell, 49, of 50 Aunt Park Lane was driving a 2002 Suzuki Aerio sedan southward on South Main Street about 5:13 pm October 15, police report.
At that time, motorist Michelle Davies, 17, of 52 Appleblossom Lane, who was driving a 1994 Toyota Corolla sedan, was stopped at a stop sign on eastbound Appleblossom Lane and was waiting to make a left turn onto northbound South Main Street, police said.
As the Toyota attempted to make the left turn, the two vehicles collided, according to police.
There were no injuries. Davies received an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign, police said.
Burglary/Larceny
Sometime between 8:20 am and 2:20 pm on October 15, someone burglarized a home on Aunt Park Lane, stealing items including electronic devices and jewelry, police report. The home that was burglarized lies about halfway between Aunt Park Laneâs intersections with Hattertown Road and Hundred Acres Road.
The crimes committed are third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny, both of which are felonies. The theft involved items valued at between $1,000 and $5,000.

Tomahawk Trail
About 3:27 am October 18, police responded to the area near 68 Tomahawk Trail in the Pootatuck Park neighborhood on a report of a one-vehicle accident.
Police said motorist Matthew Schierloh, 23, of 6 Shady Rest Boulevard, who was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry on Tomahawk Trail, drove off the road and collided with a tree and a utility pole.
Schierloh was not injured in the incident, police report. Schierloh received an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn, according to police.
SUV Hits Drain
About 5:10 pm on October 18, motorist David Doolittle, 51, of Torrington, who was driving a 1998 Dodge Durango westward on Mile Hill Road, went into a skid, so he attempted to correct the vehicleâs line of travel, but then slid across the roadâs opposite travel lane and struck a raised stormwater drain, police report.
Doolittle was not injured, according to police, who issued him a written warning for failure to drive to the right.
Sedan Vs Deer
While traveling westward on Route 302 about 6:15 pm October 14, motorist Peter Ioveno, 35, of Bethel, who was driving a 2001 Nissan Sentra, encountered a deer that had run onto the road, police said. Ioveno attempted to avoid an impact, but the auto and the deer collided, police report. The deer then ran off. Ioveno was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Pickup Vs Pickup
Motorist John Grasso, 46, of Norwalk, who was driving a 2007 Nissan Frontier pickup truck westward on Meadowbrook Road, stopped to make a right turn into the driveway at 10 Meadowbrook Road at about 5:30 pm October 17, when the Nissan was struck from behind by westbound motorist Andrew Rendflash, 31, of Ansonia, who was driving a 1996 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, police report.
There were no injuries. Rendflash received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to police.
Berkshire Collision
Motorist Laura Helgens, 55, of North Haven was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima sedan eastward near 164 Berkshire Road (Route 34) about 3:50 pm October 12, police report.
At that time, motorist Kathleen Genesse-Morey, 44, of Brookfield was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound there, police said.
As the Nissan was negotiating a curve in the road, it entered the opposite lane, resulting in the two vehicles colliding, police said.
Ambulance volunteers evaluated Genesse-Morey at the scene, but she declined further treatment, police report. Sandy Hook firefighters responded to the incident. Helgens received an infraction for failure to drive to the right, police said.
Icy Travel
State police report a two-vehicle accident on an icy westbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, about 6:43 am October 19.
Westbound motorist Christina Germani, 43, of Mamaroneck, N.Y., who was driving a 2009 Lexus, slowed due to traffic conditions and was struck from behind by westbound motorist Ryan Kelley, 24, of 18 Mt Nebo Road, who was driving a 1996 Honda Accord, according to state police.
Kelley reported neck pain but declined medical attention, state police said. Kelley received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions, according to state police.
Slippery Road
Motorist Jennifer Laden, 39, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty on westbound Interstate 84âs Exit 9 on-ramp about 7 am October 19, encountered slippery road conditions and the vehicle then spun out of control on an icy bridge, state police said.
The Jeep struck some guardcabling along the right road shoulder. Laden was not injured. Enforcement information was not available.
Icy Conditions
Motorist Karry Goumy, 21, of Southbury was driving a 2007 Mazda 3 on westbound Interstate 84âs Exit 11 off-ramp about 5:35 am October 19, when while negotiating a curve, the vehicle went out of control on the icy pavement, state police said.
The Mazda then struck a concrete barrier rail along the right road shoulder. Goumy was not injured. State police issued Goumy a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Highway Accident
About 8 pm October 18, trucker Don Hobbs, Jr, 56, of Punta Gorda, Fla., was driving a 2009 International truck westward on Interstate 84, near Exit 10, state police said.
At that time, motorist Matthew Odell, 29, of Bethel, who was driving a 2004 Subaru Impreza, was entering the highway at westbound I-84âs Exit 10 on-ramp, state police said.
The two vehicles made contact resulting in damage to both vehicles, according to state police. There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Ramp Crash
About 4 pm October 17, motorist Virginia Cavalli, 58, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2009 Subaru Forester, stopped the Subaru at a stop sign at the end of westbound Interstate 84âs exit 9 off-ramp, state police report.
 A gray Hyundai SUV with an unknown driver then struck the Subaru from behind, after which the Hyundai turned left and drove away on southbound Hawleyville Road, state police said.
Neither Cavalli, nor two passengers in the Subaru were injured. State police are investigating.
Cadillac Vs Honda
About 6:39 pm October 15, traffic was heavy and the roadway was wet on eastbound Interstate 84 near Exit 9, according to state police.
Motorist Bardhyl Limani, 37, of 6 Blue Spruce Drive, who was driving a 2007 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Honda was hit from behind by motorist Dana Fuller, 25, of Southbury, who was driving a 2006 Cadillac CTS, state police said.
Both Limani and Honda passenger Fadil Bajraliu, 41, of 8 Charlieâs Circle were transported by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries, according to state police.
No enforcement information was available.
Swamp Road
About 8:24 am on October 19, police were monitoring traffic flow near 21 Swamp Road when they stopped motorist Miguel Cordero-Ocotl of Bridgeport.
Police said Cordero-Ocotl was driving a vehicle 45 miles per hour in a 25-mph zone. Police charged him with traveling too fast and with driving with a suspended license.
After processing, police released Cordero-Ocotl on $100 bail for a November 3 court appearance.
Unsafe Backing
About 10 am October 19, motorist Carol Mattegat, 71, of 12 Budd Drive was backing a 2007 Saturn Vue out of the driveway at that address when the Saturn struck a commercial Ford F-350 dump truck, which was properly parked along the eastbound travel lane of Budd Drive, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Mattegat for unsafe backing.
Vehicular Violations
Police report they stopped motorist Stanley Charleston, 23, of Bridgeport on Mt Pleasant Road, near Blackman Road, about 9:46 pm October 19 to investigate, after which they charged Charleston with failure to drive to the right and with driving while under suspension.
Newtown police said they later learned that West Haven police held a warrant on Charleston on two counts of second-degree failure to appear in court, plus one count each of third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace.
Police held Charleston on $5,250 bail for an October 20 court appearance.
High School Arrest
At about noon on October 19, an altercation between two students occurred at Newtown High School at 12 Berkshire Road, police said.
Police said they charged one of those students, who is under age 16, with second-degree breach of peace. Police released that person from custody on a written promise to appear November 2 in Danbury Juvenile Court. State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.
Fairfield Hills Vandalism
Police report an incident of vandalism at the town-owned Fairfield Hills campus sometime between 8 pm October 12 and 9:45 am October 13.
In the case of third-degree criminal mischief, someone damaged both a window and a plywood panel on a door at Plymouth Hall. Anyone with information on who committed the vandalism is asked to contact police at 426-5841, or at tip line 270-8888.
