To the Editor:

I encourage — no urge! — the voters of Newtown to reelect John Kortze to the Board of Finance this November! He deserves your support on Election Day for the following reasons:

 *He has strong financial management experience — John has successfully worked in the financial industry for over 20 years. He also holds a BS in economic and business management from Cornell University.

*He has Newtown government experience — John has worked tirelessly as a dedicated public servant in Newtown for almost 15 years. In addition to serving on the BOF, John previously served on the Legislative Council, including time as the chairman of the LC’s Finance Committee.

*He is fiscally responsible — John has stayed true to his primary goal as chairman of the BOF — to work in an advisory, nonpolitical role to recommend programs that further the financial foundation of our town. No politics — no emotions — just financially sound analysis. This may sometimes make him and the BOF unpopular, but I applaud his efforts to help keep Newtown fiscally healthy.

*He is respectful — John is respectful to the residents of Newtown. Whether you agree or disagree with his recommendations, he is always available to answer questions and discuss issues.

*He is a sincere person — You know what you get with John — a straight shooter, a consistent and caring family man and friend. A man who has tirelessly worked for the residents of Newtown. A man who deserves your vote.
