WATERBURY â Master pastelist Jimmy Wright will demonstrate the use of pastels in fine art at The Mattatuck Museum Arts & History Center on Sunday, October 25, from 1 to 3 pm.
Mr Wright will show how pastels can be used to depict a wide range of subjects and emotions while surrounded by 100 pastel works displayed as part of the 16th Annual National Exhibition of the Pastel Society, which closes after Sunday.
Known for his pastel self-portraits and of sunflowers, Jimmy Wright is an internationally recognized, award-wining master pastelist whose work is in numerous private and public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mr Wright earned a bachelorâs of fine art at the School of Art Institute of Chicago, and a masterâs of fine art at Southern Illinois University.
