To the Editor:
As a 2007 graduate of Newtown High School, I will be voting in Novemberâs Board of Education election with a unique proximity to this townâs public school system and a personal understanding of the issues facing it. And speaking of proximity and personal understanding, I canât pretend to be totally impartial â my father, William G. Hart, Jr, is on the ballot. But I emphatically support William Hart for the Newtown Board of Education not just because he raised me and contributed half of my genetic material. I am confident that Hart, the incumbent candidate for the Independent Party of Newtown, is the best citizen for the job.
The fact that my dad has taken the initiative to get involved with local politics while simultaneously supporting our family of four as a single father is indicative of just how much he cares about this townâs educational system and his position on the BOE. He is not only himself a Newtown parent, but also has had tremendous leadership experience both in corporate environments and as a small business owner. My father is an intelligent, analytical, level-headed individual. In the two decades I have spent with him, Iâve found he has a great capacity to problem-solve with lucidity and wisdom. He is a compassionate and kind individual and a devoted parent, an exemplary representative of Newtownâs parents. I feel lucky to have been raised by him.
The students, parents, and faculty of Newtownâs schools are fortunate to have my father on their side. I urge you to vote for William G. Hart, of the Independent Party of Newtown, for the Board of Education.
Alexandra K. Hart
