Adopt A Dog Or Cat From The Pound

The following animals are available for adoption from the Newtown pound, which is located at the end of Ethan Allen Road (behind the transfer station):

DELILAH is a female Shar-Pei who enjoys long walks and will sniff just about everything in sight. She is an overall happy dog but will most likely require some training.

SMUDGE is a large black and white short-haired male cat. He loves to eat and craves attention. Smudge would settle into just about any home with no problem.

IRIS is a black female adult cat. Sadly, Iris has an existing eye condition that has caused blindness. Despite her loss of vision, Iris is an extremely friendly, sweet cat who loves to be wherever people are. She has adapted well to her loss of sight and acts like a cat who can see everything.

If you wish to adopt, please call Newtown Animal Control at 426-6900 or Canine Advocates at 426-5327. Canine Advocates of Newtown, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer group, raises funds to spay/neuter and provide shots against DHLPP and rabies for all of the Newtown Pound cats and dogs. CAN also provides a free training DVD and Beyond Obedience Dog Training offers one free individual training lesson to adopters. If you cannot adopt but would like to help, please send your donation to Canine Advocates, PO Box 236, Newtown, CT 06470. Visit canineadvocates.org or call 426-5327 to volunteer.
