NYCAAP Presentation

Students from NYCAAP (Newtown Youth Creating AIDS Awareness for Peers), a program of Newtown Youth Services, recently presented a workshop with Bonnie Edmondson, HIV Coordinator for the State Department of Education.

The workshop, “HIV/STD Activities That Work,” was offered at the Connecticut Youth Services Association’s annual conference held October 6 in Meriden. NYCAAP members Laura Amodeo, Shannon Rouse, and David Rod discussed that many projects and activities of the group, as well as their experiences as peer AIDS educators, help staff from Youth Service Bureaus across the state learn how to set up AIDS education programs in their communities.
