How would you describe your occupation? I’m the office assistant at Edmond Town Hall. I basically handle all of the rentals, the rental contracts, booking the spaces, and assisting Business Manager Lauren DiMartino and Operations Manager Anthoni Sartori in any project that we’re working on in the building with programming and setting up for events. I just started working here in September.
Who is in your family? My husband John, and I have two kids. Hunter is ten and Marley is seven.
Do you have any pets? We have a dog, Josie. She’s a big mutt. 90 pounds of energy.
How long have you lived in Newtown? I have lived in Newtown for fourteen years.
What do you like to do in your free time? I spend a lot of time at my kids’ sporting events — every weekend on the baseball field. We go hiking and camping as a family, and I love to see music.
Are you part of any organizations in town? I am the set designer for Newtown Stage Co. Other than that, it’s my children’s sports.
Who has been the greatest influence on your life? My grandmother who just passed a couple weeks ago at the age of 95. She had an extraordinary life with a lot of hardships growing up in Europe in the 30s and 40s. She was a single mother raising two boys in Connecticut and built up several businesses all on her own, and retired at the age of 90.
Who is your favorite musical artist? I love jam bands and classic rock, but also folk and bluegrass — I have a very wide range. I would say my number one is The Grateful Dead.
What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given? “Always stay true to yourself.”
What is something you cannot live without? My kids and coffee.
What is your proudest accomplishment? My kids.
What is your favorite travel destination? Every summer we go camping in Maine in a place called Hermit Island. It’s like stepping into another world, its own little bubble of just peace and quiet — sitting on the beach and seeing the eagles and the seals.
What is the best part of Newtown? The community. We have a small-town-feel even though we are a pretty big town. We have so many things to do and organizations that do so much for the town, but at the same time, it feels like a small town.
What should The Newtown Bee cover in the future? All of the arts and entertainment at Edmond Town Hall.
