WWE Responds To Criticism
In Connâs Political Ring
HARTFORD (AP) â World Wrestling Entertainment is campaigning against what it says are unfair attacks on the company coming out of the US Senate race in Connecticut.
A spokesman for former WWE chief executive Linda McMahon, the Republican candidate, says she has nothing to do with the âStand up for WWEâ campaign launched Monday by the company and her husband, Vince McMahon, the WWEâs chairman.
Vince McMahon and several professional wrestlers are appearing in videos on the companyâs website and social networking sites defending WWEâs content and treatment of wrestlers.
Democratic candidate Richard Blumenthalâs campaign has accused Linda McMahon of not caring about the health of WWE wrestlers. She also has been criticized over the past portrayal of women in some wrestling plot lines.
