William C. Eick

Loving Husband

And Father

William “Bill” C. Eick, 56, of Sandy Hook, died peacefully, October 15. Born in Morristown, N.J., Mr Eick was a 1972 graduate of Newton (N.J.) High School.

He was a self-employed landscaper for Bill Eick Lawn Service, LLC. Mr Eick previously worked for the New Jersey Department of Fish & Game, the Sussex County Road Department, and Morris Asphalt. While living in New Jersey, he volunteered with both the Newton and Andover Borough Fire Departments.

Mr Eick was the beloved husband of Ellen Howell Eick, formerly of Andover, N.J., and the loving father of Patricia Eick Hutzel of Indianapolis, Ind. John Eick of Stillwater, N.J., and Judith Duranleau of Waterboro, Maine, also survive him. Mr Eick was predeceased by his parents, Walter “Bud” Eick and Elizabeth “Libby” Tayburn Eick.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, October 23, at Christ Episcopal Church, 62 Main Street, Newton, N.J. Interment will be held in Tranquility Cemetery in Tranquility, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to fight Melanoma Cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Attention: Dr Jedd Wolchok, 1275 York Avenue, New York NY 10065; or to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, In Honor of William Eick, 405 Main Street, Danbury CT 06810.
