Showtime is 7 pm and the performance will be in the theater of Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street in Newtown.

“We are delighted to have such an accomplished musician and songwriter on our show,” said Flagpole Radio Café Executive Producer Martin Blanco. “In addition to his superb musicianship, Mr Chapin is a terrific actor and storyteller. His artistic sensibilities are a great compliment to our brand of music and comedy and I know that our audience will enjoy his performance.”

Tom Chapin’s music spans multiple styles and generations, more than 30 years and through 21 recordings. Mr. Chapin has entertained, amused and enlightened audiences of all ages with life-affirming original songs told in a sophisticated array of musical styles.

His adult concerts and recordings are sparked by strong, intelligent songwriting with clear, engaging vocals and the intricate, melodic guitar work that has become his trademark. His most recent recording, a collaboration with John Forster called Broadsides: A Miscellany of Musical Opinion, is set to be released November 2 (although mp3 downloads are already available).

The New York Times calls Chapin “one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music.”

“Mine is not a traditional music, but it comes from a tradition,” the musician has said. “My musical heroes are people like Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie who wrote and sang real songs for real people; for everyone, old, young, and in between.”

Tom Chapin is also a beloved narrator of children’s books on tape. Three of his narrations won Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word Album for Children (Mama Don’t Allow, 2001; There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, 2002; and The Train They Call the City of New Orleans, 2004).

In addition to Mr Chapin’s performance, The Flagpole Radio Café is an engaging variety show that features music Jim Allyn & The Radio Café Orchestra, a dynamic ensemble created for the show, and radio style comedy sketches by Flagpole Shakespeare Repertory Theatre.

Performances are hosted by musician and radio personality Chris Teskey, who also broadcasts the show on his celebrated program on WPKN radio.
