‘Take Heart’ Free Women’s Cardiac Screening Fair Planned

BRIDGEPORT — The Elizabeth Pfriem Women at Heart Program at St Vincent’s Regina L. Cozza Center will sponsor a free women’s cardiac screening fair October 29, from 12 to 7 pm in the hospital’s Hawley Conference Center, located in the new Elizabeth Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care, 2800 Main Street.

Highlights of the fair include blood pressure/vital sign screenings, body composition evaluations, a nutrition assessment, exercise evaluations, cholesterol and blood sugar profiles (appointment required), health education literature packets and educational videos shown throughout the day.

There will be a Nutritional Lecture at 2 pm by registered dietician Karen Novak, RD, MA, CDE; and a Primary Prevention Lecture by cardiologist Kathleen Harper, DO, at 4 pm.

There will also be a Yoga Demonstration and Meditation with Susan Kiley at 6 pm. Testing and parking are free of charge and healthy refreshments will be provided. Register for cholesterol/blood sugar profiles by calling the careline at 877-255-SVHS.

St Vincent’s Women at Heart at the Regina L. Cozza Center of St Vincent’s is a cardiovascular program created exclusively for women of all ages designed to provide a holistic, woman-specific program of education and cardiovascular screening.

The Women at Heart program helps women lower their risk with discounted cardiovascular screenings, nutrition counseling, stress reduction sessions, and education through free talks and heart health seminars. Prevention opportunities and information about the latest treatments and research findings are also provided.
