5K Run Was A Success

To the Editor:

As you know, this past Saturday, October 16, St Rose of Lima School sponsored its first 5k run to complement an over 20-year-old tradition of an annual Walk-A-Thon fundraiser for the school. In addition to a beautiful fall day, a bouncy gym, fare from The Meat House and American Artisan Food and Bakery, we had over 250 participants, 96 of whom were runners.

We would like to thank the many volunteers, community sponsors and supporters of our event, in particular the chairperson of the day’s events, Rob Griffin, Newtown Patch for recording the event, and Newtown police for providing a safe environment for all participants.

It is because of this endearing support that we are able to be a “school of excellence” in the wonderful community of Newtown.
