South-West Conference Playoffs Get Underway

South-West Conference championship action got going with the cross country meet and boys’ golf pinnacle match both on October 16. Newtown High School’s boys’ golfers won the conference crown for the second year in a row and Soheib Dissa captured the individual title in the cross country meet. The playoffs continue with game action on Monday, October 21 and continuing potentially throughout the week. Here are the dates and times to circle on the calendar:

Field Hockey: No. 3 Newtown hosts No. 6 New Fairfield in the quarterfinals Monday, October 21 at 6 pm. The winner advances to face either No. 2 Immaculate of Danbury or No. 6 Brookfield in the semifinals on Thursday, October 24 at 6 pm. The championship game will be at Western Connecticut State University Sunday, October 27 at 6 pm.

Girls’ Volleyball: No. 2 Newtown hosts No. 7 Bethel in the quarters on Tuesday, October 22 at 6 pm. The winner faces either No. 3 Masuk of Monroe or No. 6 New Milford in the semis on Thursday, October 24 at 6 pm. The championship match will be played at West Conn Tuesday, October 29 at 6 pm.

Girls’ Soccer: No. 6 Newtown visits No. 6 Brookfield in the quarters on Tuesday, October 22 at 6 pm. The winner takes on either No. 2 Bethel or No. 7 New Fairfield in the semis on Saturday, October 26 at 6 pm. The championship game is to be played at West Conn Monday, October 28 at 4:30 pm.

Boys’ Soccer: No. 4 Newtown hosts No. 5 Brookfield in the quarters Wednesday, October 23 at 6 pm. The winner faces either No. 1 Bethel or No. 8 Weston in the semis on Saturday, October 26 at 6 pm. The championship game is set to be played at West Conn on Monday, October 28 at 7 pm.

Girls’ Swimming & Diving: The SWC Diving Championships will be at New Fairfield High on Wednesday, October 30 at 4:30 pm and the swim races will take place at Masuk High on Saturday, November 2 at 5 pm.
