Claire Marie Holzner (nee Hammond), 80, a longtime resident of Newtown, died peacefully October 19 at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was the loving wife of Louis Holzner. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary, with all their children.

She was the cherished grandmother of Amy King, and husband Brian, William Fields, and wife Diane, Matthew Holzner, Emily Fields, Clint Holzner, and Livia Holzner. She was the beloved sister of Kenneth W. Hammond, and wife Louise; and great-grandmother of Wyatt King.

The Holzners were avid travelers, and especially enjoyed England and Germany. She was a summer resident of Chatham, Mass., her entire life. Mrs Holzner loved spending time at the family home, “Sea Heaven,” on Cape Cod, enjoying exciting card games with the grandchildren, antiquing, walking on the beach, and making the family clam chowder recipe.

She was also longtime member of the Newtown Woman’s Club.
