Maria Orama, 74, died October 17 at Vitas Hospice at St Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, May 27, 1939, daughter of Juan and Andrea Ruiz Cuevas, and was the beloved and devoted wife of Jose A. Orama, Sr.

She was employed at the former Bridgeport Web and Blase Manufacturing in Bridgeport until her retirement.

Mrs Orama deeply loved her family and enjoyed shopping and cooking.

In addition to her husband, three sons and their wives, Hiram R. Orama Sr, and Nancy of Newtown, Jose A. Orama, Jr, and Lizzette of Florida, Nelson and Hwa Cha Orama of Stratford; a daughter, C. Aleida Filippone, and her husband Gus, of Ansonia; nine cherished grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive Mrs Orama. Three brothers, Jose, Miguel, and Wilfredo Cuevas predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place October 21. Interment was in Mt St Peter’s Cemetery in Derby.
