World Community Day Celebration Being Planned
The public is invited to join the local unit of Church Women United in celebrating World Community Day on Friday, November 4, at 6 pm, at Newtown Congregational Church.
âLiving Our Faith: Unlocking Actionâ will be the theme as attendees gather to listen, discern, and discuss how to be better and more active Christians. Deacon Norman Roos will be speaking and moderating the program. He has spent most of his ministerial life involved in Scripture. He has moderated small group Bible studies, taught Scripture to high school freshmen and sophomores, and conducted Scripture-based retreats.
Deacon Roos (pictured) regularly preaches the Gospel at St Rose of Lima Parish in Newtown. In addition to his diaconate responsibilities, he and his daughter, Mary Kate, run the Kumon Math and Reading Center in Newtown.
Deacon and his wife, Mary, have two grown children and live in Danbury. Registration will be at 6 pm in foyer of The Great Room at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street.
Dinner will be at 6:15, and the program will be from 7 until 8. Tickets for the event are $5 per person and can be purchased from CWU members or at most church offices. For more information or tickets contact the Church Women United representative from Trinity Episcopal Church (Milda Kolesar), Newtown United Methodist Church (Barbara Gates), St Rose of Lima (Jean Conover), and Newtown Congregational (Barbara Bigham), or Darlene Jackson at 203-426-5192.
