Two Blood Drives Coming Up

The American Red Cross has two blood drives scheduled in Newtown.

Thousands of blood donations are needed each and every day to meet the needs of accident victims, cancer patients, and children with blood disorders. Connecticut’s community blood supply for types O positive and A positive are at emergency level, while types O negative and A negative are at a critical level.

Donors need to be at least 18 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health.

Masonicare at Newtown, 139 Toddy Hill Road, will host a blood drive on Monday, October 24, from 11 am until 4:15 pm.

Trinity Episcopal Church will host a drive on Monday, November 14. That drive will run from 8:30 am until 6:15 pm.

All donors during the month of October will receive a coupon from the Red Cross for a free Pronto Pasta from Carla’s Pasta (redeemable at Adams, Big Y World Class Supermarkets, Caraluzzi’s, IGA, Shop Rite Supermarkets, Stew Leonard’s, and other Connecticut locations).

In November, donors will be entered for a chance to win a Stanley Black & Decker PivotDriver cordless rechargeable screwdriver.

Appointments for both blood drives area available by calling 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) or going online to www.RedCrossBlood.org. Walk-in donors will also be welcome at both locations.
