Interior Scene In Pastel Next Program For SCAN

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host a demonstration by Shauna Shane on Wednesday, October 26, at 1:30 pm. The free program will be in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street.

Ms Shane’s subject will be an interior scene with a figure painted in oil.

Ms Shane has been painting professionally for 30 years and works comfortably in a variety of mediums including oil, pastel and watercolor. She is a former resident artist at Yellowstone National Park and more recently, The New Britain Museum of American Art.

Ms Shane is a signature member of Connecticut Pastel Society, and an elected member of Lyme Art Association and Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. Recent awards were received in the Slater Museum Exhibit 2010 and the Renaissance Pastel exhibit in Connecticut. Ms Shane teaches at West Hartford Art League, Glastonbury Art Guild, and Community School of the Arts at UConn.

Shauna Shane’s work is saturated with light and color informed by many years of painting from life. Her paintings of the still life and the figure reflect a solid academic training as well as the ability to communicate the energy, color, and unique atmosphere of a scene.

All are welcome and admission is free. Reservations are not needed for SCAN programs but additional information is available from Ruth Newquist, at 203-426-6654.
