Blue Lightning vs Team Seven: The Blue Lightning was led by the goal scoring of Isabella Gerace, Amelia Bajcer, Bianca Madir and Jillian Bobowick. Outstanding overall play was also demonstrated by Stella Rankin, Ryan Heim-Sherwood, Eva Barricelli, Melissa Tagliarini and Kate Saeva. For Team 7 a great goal was scored by Macey Cuomo. Playing well in goal were Alexa Manfredonia and Grace McDonnell. The offense was led by Haley Austermann, Madison Kistner and Ainsley McLeod. The defense was spear headed by Nicole Melchionno, Treasa OâSullivan and Audrey Trahan.

Dynamo Kids 4, Pink Dragons 3: Dynamo established a good lead early in the game with goals from Cameron Powers and Emma Butler, but the Dragons clawed their way back on the counter with goals from Page Farley, Sophia Child and Elle Sferuzzo. Outstanding goalkeeping by Grace Soltis kept Dragons in the game, and Dynamo held on thanks to great defense by Kaia Gioffre.
The Lightning Strikes 3, SuperStrikers 0: The Lightning Strikes jumped out to a lead on Taegan Smithâs first goal of the season. Becca Filiato continued her goal-scoring streak by chipping one in for The Lightning Strikes off a cross from Olivia Cornett. Filiato returned the favor with a strong upfield pass, springing Olivia Cornett free for a rush to the net, which she converted with a well placed strike. The SuperStrikers were led by the hard-nosed play of Abbey Stites and Kyra Masone, but could not break through despite the strong efforts of Emi Rosenthal, Vanessa Bajalu, Kate Marcum and Maleeha Ali. The second half goaltending efforts of Caroline Drew and Kennedy Cope, supported by the defensive efforts of Katie Larson and Michaela Cosgriff preserved the shutout for The Lightning Strikes.

Dynamite 3, Huskies 0: Katie Dirga, Carlie Smith and Sydney Howard played strong on the Dynamiteâs offense and Emma DaSilva and Grace Bertsche shut down the Huskiesâ repeated attacks.
Fire Cheetahs 3, Screaming Eagles 2: Merije De Wit had a hat-trick to lead the Fire Cheetahs. Emma Stierle and Ashley Marron also had strong performances on offense, Julia Kanaan was tireless in midfield, and Rylee Harrell played great defense. Megan Riccardi led the Eagles on offense scoring two goals. Hannah Fweath was also strong on offense and Bridgette Gattinoni covered a lot of ground at midfield. Natalene Sim played great defense and Mary Sortino made some stellar saves in goal.

Bethel 1, Newtown Dynamites 0: In the first half, the girls put good pressure on the Bethel goalie, with shots coming from Lindsay Merrfield, Lauren Adams, Grace Corcoran, Jenna Lavelle, Kristen Cirone and Lu Hage, but they were unable to score. Lauren Carrino had some saves for the Dynamites and Audrey Benson and Lu Hage had some key plays on defense to keep it scoreless. In the second half, a well-orchestrated passing game landed the Bethel team a goal. Shots were made by Brooke Antous, Grace Corcoran and Katie Sailer, and Grace Corcoran and Lu Hage were strong on defense, but the game ended in a loss.
Newtown Dynamites 2, Southbury 1: The game opened with Lauren Carrino making several saves in the goal for the Dynamites. Jenna Lavelle had a shot on goal. A defensive breakdown led to Southbury making the first goal of the game, but Katie Sailer soon answered, bringing the score to 1-1. The Dynamites took the lead in the second half when Keeley Kortze passed to Jenna Lavelle who scored. Kristen Cirone, Lauren Adams, Jenna Lavelle and Lu Hage all fired shots on the Southbury goalie. A breakaway by Southbury led to a foul against Newtown and a direct penalty kick, which hit the crossbar. The Southbury team picked up steam and goalie Rebecca Gavel had several spectacular saves to preserve the win.

Newtown 4 New Canaan 1: Amanda Albanese opened up the scoring on a penalty kick. Jess Maturo then scored on a lunging shot off a pass from Hailey Conrad. After New Canaan cut the deficit in half, Conrad restored the lead with a pretty spin move and short side blast over the goalie. Maturo netted the final goal of the game on a breakaway off a pass from Meghan Doyle. Grace Sandercox hit the crossbar and Lauren Cirrone had shots on goal. Kendra Dunnigan and Taylor Pare were strong at midfield.
Newtown 3 Wilton 0: The Thunder stayed undefeated in league play. Ali Manfredi scored just before the half off a great pass from Olivia Caplan. The second goal by Emily Neeve was set up by a perfect cross from Hailey Conrad. Meghan Doyle fed Jess Maturo with a nice lead pass to close out the scoring. Goalies Doyle and Stef Carr pitched the shutout, with strong support from defenders Sandercox, Lauren Beier and Emily Montoya. Claire Beiter and Julia Sughrue (shot on goal) displayed sharp passing skills from the midfield position.

Ninjas 1, No Names 0: The Ninjas held on for a 1-0 victory in a hotly contested battle that featured stellar defense and goaltending. Katerina Ringes scored on a penalty kick in the 18th minute that resulted from the hard work of Sarah MacMullan. Midfielders Rachael DiCristina and Emma Brantl endlessly pressured the ball and created many scoring chances with pinpoint passes. Rachel Tomasino and Jillian Milano were an imposing presence on the back line, making several clutch tackles to preserve the win, while Sarah Brittin and Taylor Clomiro were brilliant in goal. For the No Names, Lauryn Ankers, Katlyn Henchcliffe, Diana Akiri and Erika Teetsel led the No Names with strong midfield play setting up numerous scoring opportunities for forwards Emma Schmid-Tharnish and Jaclyn OâLeary. A strong defensive effort was spearheaded by Rachel Jacuzzi and Janyce Toth.
Ninjas 0, American Eagles 0: The Ninjas battled to a hard-fought tie against the American Eagles thanks to stellar goaltending by Haley Taylor and Jordan Williams. Jillian Milano, Sarah Brittin and Rachel Tomasino played shutdown defense for 80 minutes. Allie Reczek, Rachael DiCristina, Emma Brantl and Taylor Clomiro controlled the midfield through their determined play, while Olivia Butler, Jessica Cruz and Sarah MacMullan generated several scoring chances for the Ninjas. The American Eagles shut down an aggressive offensive Ninja attack, largely due to âlights outâ goaltending by Kaysie Fisher and Savannah Davidow. Caroline Viselli and Sarah Simenson played a âglue-likeâ defense, deflecting multiple Ninja attempts on the Eagles net. The offense was anchored by the nice overall play, especially in the forward slots by Calista Giroux, Ariana Della Corte and Allie Indelicato. MacKenzie Macchiarulo played another great game in backfield sweeper.

Sponge Bobs 5, Team Four 4: In a battle of undefeated teams, the Sponge Bobâs got four goals from Jack Petersen and a goal from Tanner Trede. Andrew Michlovitz, Ethan Paley and Cameron Petrelli hustled throughout the game. The Sponge Bobs defense was led by Jake Mailloux, Ethan Paley and Andrew Bazuro who made several key plays in the fourth period. Team Four was led by Brendan OâNeil with three goals and one goal from Jake Gonski. Eric Vine and Vivek Ramadhar played very well on defense. Max Cruwys-Hayes and Brendan Morrissey put together some great passes which lead to goals.
Nighthawks 2, Blue Thunder 1: The Blue Thunder put out another solid team effort and passed the ball well to create many scoring chances. The goal was scored by Markus Paltauf from a nice assist by George Sandercox. Michael Elston and James Ciaramello hustled throughout the game, while Drew Poseno, Calum Edmund and Jeremy Pankow played strong defense. In goal, Ethan Appiah made some good saves to keep the game close. The Nighthawks remain unbeaten but definitely challenged by the Blue Thunder. It was a close game and well played by both sides. Steven Leuci scored the first goal for the Nighthawks. Adem Selmani scored the go-ahead goal in the second half by weaving his way through Blue Thunderâs defense. John Sullivan played great in goal and on defense. Gunnar Bozentko played with great determination and never gave up on the ball. Jerry Sun showed great progress on the field and played some great defense. Ryan Ruddy, Tyler DiMartino and Miller Tretreault played hard and did a great job controlling the midfield.
Wolverines 1, Team Ten 0: The Wolverines played well across the field with strong defense from Alex Da Silva and speedy midfield play by Zach Guilherme. The lone score came from Dylan McDermott. Organized team play was on display from the Wolverines with good communication and combined effort to solidify the win.

Newtown Vipers 7, Ridgefield 1: Newtown got off to a strong start with Owen Sullivan scoring the first goal, in the cool fall afternoon in Newtown. Shortly after, Colin Dunn took Newtown to a 2-0 lead. Midway through the half, Ridgefield got on the board, closing the gap for a few minutes. With constant offensive pressure from the midfielders, Harvey Long regained Newtownâs two-goal lead. Newtownâs solid defensive work kept Ridgefield scoreless the rest of the half. Starting the second half with a 3-1 lead, Newtown expanded their advantage as Colin Dunn scored two more goals for a hat-trick. Again, solid goaltending and nonstop defensive work kept the Newtown goal empty the remainder of the game. Adam Farley and Bryce Bisset each scored towards the end of the game, giving Newtown a commanding win.

Water Buffalos 5, DWP 4: Both teams played an outstanding game. For the Water Buffalos, Colin Patrick scored two goals, one with an assist from Dillon Palumbo. Andrew Janco, Palumbo and James Barry each scored one goal. Field-length assist kicks were by James Barry and Robert DiSibio. Excellent goalkeeping by Andrei Kalinowski. For the DWP, scoring came from Elliott Bennett and Thomas Shkreli who each scored twice. Ravi Ahuja and Dennis Timmons both played outstanding at midfield with Korey Brodsky playing a great overall game.
Water Buffalos 4, The Bob Sagets 2: Sundayâs game was a match of non-stop action. Both teams were challenged to present high-energy, competitive play. The Bob Sagetsâ defense, led by an aggressive Nathan Williams, managed well against the constant pressure from the Water Buffalos, but they could not prevent Dillon Palumbo and Casper DeWit from each scoring two goals. The Sagets benefited from the excellent performance of Michael Arthur and Ryan Escoda, who offered a second-half spark for his team. The Sagetsâ goals were scored by Kevin Arthur and Travis Hannah. The Water Buffalos held off the persistent attacks from the Sagets with outstanding footwork from Zach DeMeglio in midfield and Daniel Reilly on offense. Andrew Janco and Palumbo, as goalkeepers, fended off the persistent goal attempts from the opposition, sealing the win for the Buffalos.
Wild Geese 6, Water Buffalos 4: Good sportsmanship and the love for soccer were the hallmarks of Saturdayâs game between the Water Buffalos and the Wild Geese. The undermanned Buffalos were prevented from having to forfeit the game when the Geese offered to share its surplus players. The Geese dominated the first half of the game with a goal scored by Matt Tassiello, two goals from Thomas Gavel and three scored by Tim Vanderhave. The defense, led by Brendan Reeds with Mark Carlson in goal, along with an excellent midfield performance by Jack Hanley, allowed only one goal in the first half, scored by Chris Mok. The Buffalos made a comeback in the second half of the game with goals scored by Andrei Kalinowski and borrowed Geese players Spencer Tolson and Kyle Gaynor. Midfielders Ryan Patrick and Zach DeMeglio had strong performances throughout the game. The Buffalo defense, led by James Barry and walk-on goalkeeper, Colin Patrick, held up well under the consistent pressure from the Geese.
