Every Penny Counts

To the Editor:

In August my 8-year-old daughter placed a collection can at Your Healthy Pet with the words “Pennies For Paws” painted on the front. All donations are to go toward building the new animal pound in Newtown.

We would like to sincerely thank Tom and Mary Kay, the owners of Your Healthy Pet, for allowing the can to be on their counter, as well as the many generous customers who have contributed. We collected the full can recently, counted and sorted all the coins and dollars on our kitchen counter, and the first donation we make to the pound will be for $67! This is an ongoing effort, so please look for the can when you shop at Your Healthy Pet. Every penny counts.
