Eugene Peterson of Southbury, 74, died peacefully October 13, surrounded by his family and best friend, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Bridgeport, November 14, 1936, and raised by Edith and Louis  LeGras of Stratford.

He lived in Newtown for much of his life before moving to Southbury, and he worked in construction.

His children, Nancy Meyer, and her husband Rob, of Watertown, Robert Peterson, and his wife Georgia, of Woodstock, and Christine Davis, and her husband Bryan, of Southbury; two sisters; six grandchildren; his former wife, Beverly Peterson of Newtown;  and several nieces, nephews, and friends including his very best friend, Maureen Ottinger of Southbury, survive Mr Peterson.

A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, October 20, at 3 pm, at the Newtown Village Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
