Concert Will Celebrate 400th Anniversary

Of The King James Bible

WASHINGTON — St John’s Episcopal Church in Washington will inaugurate a monthlong celebration of the 400th anniversary of The King James Bible with a concert on Saturday, October 22, of the music of Christopher Morrongiello and Marcia Young. The program features 16th Century music that combines the lute,  Renaissance harp and voice, with the lyrical verse of Shakespeare and Donne.

The pair will bring Elizabethan music to full flower in their program of songs, fantasias and instrumental dances.

The concert is part of the church’s 2011-12 Concert Series, which opened with the Yale Whiffenpoofs in September and continues next year with programs featuring Elizabeth von Trapp in March, The Galvanized Jazz Band in May, Tempesti Di Mare in September, and The Borealis Wind Quintet next October. St John’s is committed to presenting world class performers and ensembles representing a broad range of music and musical styles.

All concerts take place on Saturday evenings at 8 pm, and tickets are $40 per person. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 860-868-2527.

St John’s is at 78 Green Hill Road in Washington, directly opposite Washington Green.
